Aleeve/nsaids 8 weeks post acdf

im still on Percocet, butalbital, and Baclofen 3x a day. I’ve cut my midday Percocet in half, but last week I had my period, and the only thing that helped was Aleeve. I kept it to a minimum, but it helped with my pain. I’d like to replace the Percocet with Aleeve, but I was told no NSAIDs for 90 days. I don’t want to ask my doc for several reasons. I’m 2 months out, can I start with low dose NSAIDs? Thanks

  • I would listen to your dr. I would call his office and ask what you can take. You do not want to suffer with a non fusion. I know myself I like to take what works for my pain. Sorry.

  • His instructions were clear. He's a Dr, you are not. Listen to your Dr.

  • Aleve will slow your fusion from healing. It also will damage your stomach. I know both of these things from first hand knowledge.

Emergency surgery in March of 2006 for spinal infection of L 2 and L 3. During surgery, discovered I had Cauda Equina Syndrome. Spine became unstable after surgery and had 360 fusion with 10 pedicle screws, plates and rods in April of 2007.
