My husband’s nerves were compressed for 18 months prior to surgery. A 45 minutes procedure ended up taking over 3 hours, and they did 5 things (facetectomy, laminotomy, microdisevtomy, nerve decompression, shaving ligaments down etc). Now, 203 Days post surgery the pain is still there, he’s still on pain meds and Lyrica.
Will this ever end?

Hi HubsBackSux
So sorry to hear about the continued pain.
I am hoping your husband is getting medical support and investigations to help with this?
I had surgery in June and I am still on some meds and Lyrica. When nerves are irritated they can take a long time to heal and settle down. For my surgery I have been told the healing and fusing will be a slow process, so I am having to be patient.
Not sure what times scales your husband was given for recovery.
I hope you are able to get some more support and information from the forum to help you through this.
AJ

Hi Hubsback sucks,
I had the same surgery about 3.5 years ago and still have not recovered fully. I had a large disc herniation at L5/S1 and had surgery 1 week later. After surgery I I was left with extreme numbness and pain in my left foot that I still have today. I was able to manage for the last few years with pain meds and Gabapentin but in my case the nerve never fully regenerated. However that does not say his won't as it can take a year to do so. I know how much this sucks for him and your family.
Thank you Rods Pain. I just read your updates. This is SO hard.
