Am I a candidate for FDA AD at c3/4 when c4/5 & 5/6 are already fused?

i have cord compression and BAD symptoms of c3/4 with possible bone spurs but I was fused at c4/5 and 5/6 22 years ago. Will insurance cover? Are all discs equal or viable in my situation? Prodisc? I know Bryan disc denied me in Belgium trials back in 06 when I had some minor symptoms. I had such misery with my fusion I swore I would never again, and mobility is a concern since c6/7 has some narrowing. Any info appreciated from artificial disc folks who had a multilevel fusion.

    Hi Beth,

I had a two level c5-7 ADR they had to be revised to ACDF due to severe facet pain. I don’t know about insurance approval, but you would want to have facets that look good on imaging, and probably have a flex ex X-ray to ensure you have stability at c3-4 to be considered a candidate, per my experience with my ADR. You may need other tests as well. Have you had a neurosurgeon consult? I’m not a doctor so this is not exhaustive... I do know it is not uncommon to develop some level of instability/slip above a two level fusion, which might preclude the use of an ADR. Hope all goes well!
