Are muscle relaxers for long term use ?

  • Mike, mine came on slowly but when it woke me up from a sleep, I thought OK my time has come lol. No I don’t have myelomalacia but a failed C-5 through C-7 fusion. Last MRI showed deteriorating vertebrae 1 above and 1 below so if and when the hardware starts failing, the surgeon has already said, he’ll go posterior and just fuse all the affected ones. Won,t be long because of increase in pain and the all to familiar spasms and numbness. One thing I do want to mention, is in your last post you said your MD told you nothing to worry about as far as your myelomalcia but after researching it, I’d get a 2 nd opinion! Anything from C-3 and up, isn’t something to fool around with! Keep me posted!

He said nothing can be done, the damage can't be fixed, there is no compression on the spinal cord. I have a flat soft spot on the spinal cord. The myelomalacia is called bad white matter on the MRI. Thanks for your help, I'll prolly have more questions later. I'll send you a personal message when. I do. Take care God. Bless us all that are in pain

  • RLL54, I’m also on Flexeral 10 mg as needed but only take when it’s a bad day. I have no refills on them and since my PM closed shop and moved to N.C. I have to look for another one. I honestly only take meds when I need them! I know of 3 other Firefighters who were kicked to the curb after Surgery and out of the 4 of us, 2 are allready dead. One was only 38! And what they both died from was liver failure!
